Hi all! This is the second time I've sent this email (as Ižm having email problems), so if you get a chance to let me know if you received this or not it would be grand :)
As of today I've been in Palestine for one week. I'm in Balata, Nablus and just starting to give people media trainings (if you're interested in these projects you can email info@balatacamp.net). It's lovely to be back, but also quite difficult.
We've been spending the week visiting families of friends that were killed while we were gone, and listening to stories. The apartheid wall is 'there', in a very obtrusive, permanent nasty way. The checkpoint into Nablus is now completely closed to internationals, and to most Palestinians - suffocating, isolating Nablus even more. UNRWA is on strike (for about 3 weeks now), which means that there is no school in the camp. There being no school, while everyone is fasting during the day, makes for very unhappy and disgruntled children on the streets. (In Palestine, more than anywhere else, I've found that most children truly enjoy and have a desire to succeed in school.) The Israeli army has quite successfully targeted and wiped out most of the resistance leaders in Balata and Nablus.
But the weather is nice, and people are happy that is Ramadan.
This list includes my friends, family and other random connections to my life. I generally only send out emails occasionally while in Palestine; but if you would like to be off this list email me (I will hold no grudges against you!).
My number here that you can always reach me on is: ++ 972 59 737 118
Take care!
